We have one rear wheel for Campagnolo cassettes.
Mavic keeps the aero going with this Clincher version of their CXR Ultimate 60 wheelset. This is a wheel deep enough for racing against the clock, shallow enough to race rolling hills, and light enough to excel coming out of criterium corners. It shares a profile with the 60 T, substituting a clincher rim bed made out of aluminum and finishes it with their super-grippy Exalith braking surface.
Technically, the surface is Exalith 2, but it's a running change. This evolution of Exalith stops you even better and more consistently in all weather conditions than the original Exalith, which itself is a big improvement over standard machined braking surfaces.
The rim is not only deep, thanks to a carbon-fiber fairing, but wide. The shape has evolved from a standard airfoil to something that can handle crosswinds and headwinds with equal aplomb. The wider rim reduces rolling resistance and makes the wheel more comfortable as well. Mavic includes CX01 blades, fairings that snap on between the rims and the sidewalls of the included Mavic CXR tires, the 23mm GripLink in front, and the 23mm PowerLink in the rear. You can remove the blades if need be, but they do smooth out airflow between the wheel and tire, and benefit you more than the added weight they provide.
Mavic builds these wheels with external spoke nipples. With tubulars, race mechanics wanted the ability to true without having to remove the tire, and Mavic agreed. The spokes are bladed stainless steel and are laced to Mavic hubs that could fairly be called "aero." They’re a minimal design, with center tubes only as wide as necessary around the axle and the shortest possible flanges in order to cheat the wind. Likewise, Mavic cheats the scale by building these hubs with carbon center tubes and aluminum flanges.
This rear wheel comes in at 1005g. The tires weigh 200g. There are versions for Campagnolo and SRAM/Shimano cassettes, and each comes with the relevant pad shape. The rear hub can be converted to work with a Mavic-made XD-R compatible cassette body, sold separately.
The Mavic CXR Ultimate 60 C clincher wheel comes with a multi-function wrench, Exalith-specific brake pads, valve extender, tire, tube, rim tape, BR601 quick release, blade, and tire.
