Easy Motion History
Easy Motion is the brand used by the legendary bike brand BH Bikes for its range of electric bikes. It launched the brand in 2008, and today has a wide range of options available, with different styles of electric bikes, different features, and different power outputs.
While the Easy Motion brand name is relatively new, BH Bikes is one of the oldest in cycling. It is a Spanish company that is based in Vitoria in Spain's Basque Country. The company was founded in 1909 but it did not produce any bikes for 10 years. During these first years of its existence it manufactured ammunition, but this came to an end in 1919 at the end of World War I.
The company itself describes its move into bike production in 1919 as a "radical 180-degree turn", but it is one that has proved incredibly successful. Riders on BH Bikes won the first two races of the Vuelta a España in the 1930s and have gone on to win many more. BH Bikes has seen other successes over the decades in road racing and, more recently, in other cycling disciplines.
Its range includes road bikes and mountain bikes, and it has used its considerable experience as a manufacturer of high quality bikes to produce its range of Easy Motion electric bikes.
In 2011 this hard work was rewarded when the NEO electric bike by Easy Motion won the Eurobike Award.
Each bike uses the brand’s own proprietary NEO or EVO batteries, which are neatly tucked out of the way with none of the extraneous wires you’ll find on earlier ebikes. Riders can select from three different levels of battery assist using the handlebar-mounted computer, for up to 300% more power from the 350-watt planetary gear motor. The EVO planetary gear drive found on Easy Motion bikes is the secret to these bikes’ responsive performance. Because this design allows for a compact layout, Easy Motion is able to place the motor in the bike’s hub, where it can achieve nearly 100-percent power transfer to the rear wheel. When not using power assist, Easy Motion bikes coast with less resistance because of the planetary gear design.
