Cannondale Mountain Bikes for Sale

In 1971, Cannondale was founded as a manufacturer of camping equipment and bike trailers. Cannondale’s bicycle division quickly made a name for itself, producing the world’s first TIG welded aluminum frame for the ST500 in 1983. The first Cannondale mountain bike was released the following year, featuring a Shimano Deore XT groupset and Sugino Aero Tour crank.

Today, Cannondale is one of the few companies still evolving the art of aluminum frame design, creating a unique niche for the brand in the mountain category. They revolutionized fork design with the release of the Fatty, which has since transformed into the unconventional one-sided Lefty that’s seen on many of the brand’s mountain bikes today.

Cannondale Mountain Bikes Range

Cannondale’s mountain category includes a range of “rugged and capable off-road weapons”:

  • Overmountain. High performance enduro bikes, like the Trigger and Jekyll, with advanced suspension setups and lightweight, sturdy frames designed to get you up tough climbs and down challenging descents.

  • Cross Country Race. Full suspension and hardtail bikes built for competitive racing across all types of terrain. XC race bikes from Cannondale include the F-SI and the Scalpel.

  • Fat Bike. Bikes with over-sized wheels and tires to glide over sand, snow and anything else. See Cannondale's Fat CAAD.

  • Trail. Full suspension and hardtail options for trail adventurers, including the Habit, Bad Habit, and Beast of the East.

  • Sport. Entry level machines, such as the Catalyst and Trail, for both new and experienced riders looking for a quality mountain bike at an affordable cost.

The newest addition to the Cannondale Mountain Bikes range is the redesigned 2017 Scalpel-Si, a leaner, more agile cross country race bike featuring a slack head angle paired with Cannondale’s signature Lefty fork.

Cannondale Enduro Sponsorship

In 2013, Jerome Clementz and his Jekyll 650b took the first ever Enduro World Series Championship, sealing the title after just 6 of the 7 rounds. His teammates Jason Moeschler, Marco Osborne, and Mark Weir round out the Cannondale Overmountain team.
